Fundraising Tips

Fundraising can be a lot of fun (pun intended!) but it can also be challenging if its something you haven't done before.  Here are some tips to help you along:

Make it Personal
After registration, put your personal stamp on your Walk In Her Shoes online fundraising page by adding photos, videos and updates so your supporters can share your journey. Let everyone know how much you are aiming to raise and why. If friends and family learn about your experience, they’re more likely to donate and more likely to tell others about it.

Set a Goal
Your default goal is to raise $250, but feel free to make it your own! Setting a fundraising goal motivates you to keep going and lets all your supporters know you're working towards a specific amount.

Spread the Word
Tell the world about the steps you’re taking to end poverty for millions of women and girls. The more people you tell, the more you can raise to help fight poverty. We’ve written a few emails for you to personalize and use to make it easy! Share CARE Canada’s social media posts about Walk In Her Shoes and tell your social networks why you’ve chosen to Walk. Don’t forget the power of good old fashioned face to face conversations though - when people hear what you’re doing and why they’ll be proud to support you.

Keep everyone posted
As Walk In Her Shoes approaches, send reminders to everyone you know asking them to support your challenge. Update supporters on your progress so they feel involved and get behind you every step of the way. How about sharing a photo of yourself with your pedometer at the end of each day on your social media accounts or by email?

Say thanks
When someone makes a donation - say thank you! Your online fundraising page makes it easy to send thank-you messages, and it makes all those steps worthwhile!

Remember, your fundraising supports CARE’s work around the world to defend dignity and fight poverty. With your support, we will empower women and girls who will in turn empower their communities.
