A future without poverty is within walking distance.

Walk with us in Calgary on March 5th - 11th, 2017

Are you a Calgarian who wants to help end poverty and uplift women and children in the developing world?

Walk in Her Shoes is a global walking challenge where thousands of participants take on the challenge of walking 10,000 steps each day over the course of a week, raising money for programs that support women and girls in poverty.

Why We Walk

We are walking to raise funds and awareness for the women and girls walking thousands of steps each day for access to food, water and healthcare for their families, leaving little time for education or paid work.  CARE is working to change that. And you can too by joining our Walk In Her Shoes campaign.

Walk in Her Shoes Challenge in Calgary

For three consecutive years, Calgarians have stepped up to empower women and girls worldwide, raising over $2 million in support of CARE Canada’s Walk in her Shoes challenge.

This year, hundreds of Calgarians will come together to kick off the Walk In Her Shoes challenge ahead of International Women’s Day with a family friendly event at the Calgary Zoo on Sunday, March 5, 2017.  Participants will start their week-long challenge with a 5,000 step walk at the event, and ultimately clocking 10,000 steps a day from March 5-11, 2017.  Be part of the movement!

Fundraising is optional, though funds are matched $10:$1 by the Canadian government.  Be sure to fundraise before the event on March 5th to qualify for fundraising rewards and prizes!  For tips on fundraising, click here.
