An Exclusive Conversation with Judith Forst
CARE Canada and the members of I Am Powerful Vancouver have joined forces to offer an exclusive conversation with Judith Forst, joined by the UBC Opera Ensemble, on November 23, 2014, in support of a women's and girl's empowerment project in Bolivia.
Throughout Latin America, 12.6 per cent of the population lives in extreme poverty. In Bolivia, that number more than doubles with almost 33 per cent of Bolivians living in extreme hardship.
CARE’s Tukuy Yanapana ("we all collaborate") project in Bolivia aims to improve the profitability and competitiveness of family farms and small enterprises increasing incomes for women, men and youth.
Our goal on this evening is to raise $100,000 which will empower women and girls to lift themselves and their families out of poverty by:
• educating women and men about gender roles in labour
• raising the visibility of unpaid work performed by women
• providing access to professional information and training, supplies and equipment
• working with municipal governments to develop policies and regulations that support small farmers and enterprises
Our event on November 23 will be a meaningful afternoon of conversation, music and mingling to benefit a women's and girl's empowerment project in Bolivia. Our goal for the event is to raise $100,000 which will be matched by the Canadian Government at a 3:1 ratio, thereby amplifying our impact! We invite you to join with us by giving a gift towards this important project.
Thank you for visiting our giving page to consider making a tax-deductable contribution to our efforts, today!
